Mini-projectors

Viewsonic is flaunting their new mini projector at CES, and while they haven’t officially decided a release date, they did decide they wanted to show it to us. We interviewed them at Digital Experience, and now you get a chance to check out a really tiny SVGA projector.

Projector lift

For a while now I am promoting the PJ-Lift. This projector is fully automated and fits in a very small space in the ceiling. For example in a home theatre project I used this lift because there was only 12 centimeters between the ceeling and the next floor.

Samsung is not new to DLP. They are presenting the projector market with two new DLP based units. They both are based on the TI HD2 Dark Chip 3 DMD and are supposed to be able to produce blacks that are comparable to CRT based projectors.

Sony mentioned the SRX-R110 digital theatre projector at CES. This projector will probably be making an impact in 2006.
The projector runs at a massive 4096 x 2160 resolution, yes that is over 4,000 lines of beautifulness. This projector is using the SXRD technology from Sony, has 10,000 ANSI lumens and a 2000:1 contrast ratio. [...]

The new Yamaha projector

Yamaha announced a mid-range home projector, the DPX-830 available for $4,200. The specs are impressive; native 720p outfitted with the TI DarkChipII DLP tech. The 4000:1 contrast ratio and up to 1000 ANSI lumens and a six-segment color wheel round out the display. HDMI connection, and a 26dB quiet operation.

If Taiwan is a trend predictor for home theatre projectors there is still lots of growth to be expected. Although I don’t think that the line-up would be the same on all continents.
